From 16th to 21st September 2008 in the surroundings of a beautiful jewel of the Slovene maritime region, the town of Izola, the IZOLA BOAT SHOW 2008 will open its door for the seventh time. The IZOLA BOAT SHOW is the central Slovene nautical sales salon. Its range is growing every year in the number of boats, exhibitors as well as in the number of visitors that is expected to reach 25,000 this year. At the salon the leading brands of new and used boats, nautical equipment, clothes, footwear and nautical literature are being presented. The Salon is organised by the company Exponautic, d.o.o., its co-organiser being Marina Izola which with its new central building and numerous parking spaces for exhibitors and visitors enables a very professional realization of the salon. At this year's Izola Boat Show more than 110 Slovene and foreign exhibitors are exhibiting more than 300 trademarks of boats and nautical equipment.

The Izola nautical event is, due to a well chosen term, ranked among those fairs with the highest number of boats sold. September is the month when they start ordering the boats for the following season. In this period there are also many presentations of new models that raise interest in a purchase. The statistics of the previous salons shows that vendors always leave Izola marina satisfied. The autumn term (right after the renowned fairs in Friedrichshafen, in Cannes and right before the Genova fair) enables producers and boat vendors to assure orders in time and it enables the buyers to save money. Because of ever bigger requests for exhibition grounds, we have enlarged the fairground this year on the land and on the sea. The fairground now amounts to 40.000 square metres on land and has 150 moors on the water.

This year’s salon IZOLA BOAT SHOW 2008 is much renovated. It promises a widened and changed infrastructure while organisers will see to the satisfaction of exhibitors and visitors and for the service on the highest possible level. In addition to the reception office the exhibitors may for a small price use also a presentation hall that accommodates 100 people. The big distance between two piers enable buyers pleasant trial runs which are an IZOLA BOAT SHOW speciality.

PREMIERES AT THE FAIR

In the framework of the fair there are going to be numerous Slovene, Adriatic and world premieres. Among world ones I would highlight the biggest of Alaskas, the Alaska 53, which belongs among elegant, comfortable and safe classical semi-displacement boats. A special premiere in European waters is also going to be the presentation of the model 52 pilot house from the shipyard DeFever. More and more popular are also the Trawlers.   Amongst other boats of this class, the Selene 50 will be officially presented for the first time in the Adriatic here in Izola. Amongst numerous Slovene products we proudly present the Orca 40 sailing boat, a small sailing boat Sea Scape 18, the product of Kristian Hanjška and Andraž Mihelin. Among home products belong also the sailing boat Westerly 26 and the rubber boat Westerly 610 made by the Slovene company Tikomar.

THE CROWNED BEAUTIES

The “queens of the fair” the wooden two-masted Javelin and the yacht of the Italian origin Aicon 85 fly will be crowned. The prestigious automobile brand Toyota will be the official automobile partner which will be exhibiting their newest models. Surely they will enrapture with the hybrid technology that they are presenting to the world public, here in Izola.

ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME

Numerous concurrent activities stand out - concerts, parties, regattas and the like. On Tuesday, 16 September at 10.00 there will be a welcome party for exhibitors and guests in the Lounge bar in the main tent. For them there will also be a Casino Carnival party the next day at 22.00 in the same place. On Thursday, 18th September at 11.00 at the fairground there will be the world premiere of the boat ORCA 40.  Friday, 19th September will be especially interesting for exhibitors and also for the wide circle of visitors. At 19.30 there will be a gala dinner for those invited by Izola Boat Show and Toyota in the restaurant Mediteraneo. At 21.00 on the Glavni trg in Izola a free concert will be held with Bajaga and instructors. At 23.00 in Ambasada Gaviolli Izola Boat Show, Toyota and FHM magazine will hold an after-party, choosing the best yacht and the sailing boat of the IBS 2008; the group Xequtivz will also perform. On Saturday, 20 September there will be an especially attractive regatta - the Toyota Izola Boat Show Cup 2008 for the cup of the Slovene Sailing Association. The programme will continue with a VIP adrenalin event on water on the fairground. For lovers of marine life a lecture will be held about Slovene dolphins, performed by the Morigenos society the IBS 2008 main stage. At 19.00 there will be a VIP match race regatta with Vasilij Žbogar and other Slovene Olympic athletes. Saturday evening will continue on the Glavni trg in Izola with a concert from Magnifico and Turbulenca and Heaven X. At 23.00 the night will be crowned by a huge fireworks display. On Sunday we will finish the programme at 14.00 with another lecture about Slovene dolphins on the main stage IBS 2008.
